After a Washington arrest, the court case moves to the Fifth District Court. The district court covers Washington, Iron, and Beaver counties. Felonies and major misdemeanors are filed here. City-level crimes go to the Washington City Justice Court. You can look up district court cases by name on Utah XChange. The court keeps the formal record of the case and the final disposition.

Washington County Sheriff Records

The Washington County Sheriff runs the jail, the warrant unit, and civil process. The sheriff's records unit handles GRAMA requests for older bookings tied to Washington recent arrests. The sheriff also lists open county warrants. Many Washington arrests begin with a warrant served by patrol. Warrant data ties back to a court case in most cases.

Note: The Washington County jail roster updates on a set interval. Names may take a short time to show up after booking.

Utah BCI and Statewide Warrants

The Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification holds the state rap sheet for each person arrested in Utah. BCI runs under the Department of Public Safety. You can get your own rap sheet at bci.utah.gov with an application and a fee. The rap sheet covers Washington recent arrests that led to a booking, plus any arrests in other parts of the state. BCI also runs the Utah gun background check and the sex offender site.

For warrants, use the free name search at Utah DPS Warrant Search. The tool covers all 29 counties. The Utah Code at Title 53, Chapter 10 sets the rules for BCI and state criminal data.

Expungement of Washington Arrests

Some Washington arrests can be cleared under state law. The process starts with a BCI application and a fee. BCI checks your history and gives you a certificate if you qualify. You then file the certificate with the court that held your case. The court enters an order to seal the record. See BCI Expungements for the full process.

Wait times apply and depend on the charge. Dropped cases and not-guilty verdicts can often be cleared sooner. Some charges cannot be cleared at all under the state expungement law.
